LIVE BY FAITH

Galatians 3:11 offers us the secret of living a victorious Christian live. It is by living by faith. How does one live by faith? Before we answer this, let us remind ourselves what faith is. “Faith is a supernatural gift of God which enables us to believe without doubting whatever God has revealed” Heb 11:1 says “faith is the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not seen.” From these definitions, it is obvious that faith takes you out from the natural to the supernatural. A person of faith operates on God’s standard. It is also clear that ‘faith is acting on the promises of God.’
A person of faith must believe the word of God above every other thing: above human doctrines and traditions; above human ideologies and speculations; above human doubts etc. You must believe in God’s love and faithfulness more than human reason. Psalm 119:105 says “Your word is lamp for my steps and a light in my path”. It means your life will not be lived as you want, but as God has said. It means that you would hold on to the word of God for your future. It means that you would take God at his words no matter how bleak the circumstances appear to be.  A person of faith must trust God at all times. You must trust that God is faithful to his words; that He cannot fail; that He is the same as He was in the past. Living by faith is what the Christian life is all about. You need to exercise your faith in Christ. You need to trust God for greater things in your life. You need to learn to develop confident expectation in God. You must stop saying “I can’t” and begin to say “I can”. Why? “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”  You must stop doubting God’s words- they are not spoken for something anonymous, they are given for you. You must start acting the word of God.
